We will be giving you details of a series of events and showcases of Innermost work in Shanghai over the coming months to celebrate the amazing Shanghai Expo that started earlier this month.

Innermost products were selected for the Hong Kong Creative Exhibition ‘HK Design Ecologies’organised in conjunction with the Shanghai 2010 Expo.

Organisers of the exhibition the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) were looking to focus on firms who represented the international creativity of Hong Kong. Proud of its association with Hong Kong since first operating from the city in 2003 and opening its first showroom here in 2004 Innermost has been at the forefront of the new generation of creative companies making a home in Hong Kong.

The products selected unintentionally became a demonstration of Hong Kong’s history and future, 2 designs – one from British Designer Jake Phipps and one from Tina Leung (Innermost Creative Director), part of the new breed of local designers producing work at an internationally recognised level and standard. The event is curated by renowned jewellery designer Kai Yin Lo and other brands/ designers selected within the exhibition showcase include Vivienne Tam, Stanley Wong, Rocco Yim, Blanc de Chine and Michael Young.

The exhibition was opened by the HK Financial Secretary John C Tsang and The Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Han Zheng on May 15th.

Innermost brings you Jeeves and Wooster by Jake Phipps. Named after the iconic PG Wodehouse characters, Jake Phipps created Jeeves, and also ‘Wooster’, tipping his hat to the Great British class system of the late 19th century. These characters are typified by the ‘bowler’ and ‘top’ hats they wore. The ‘bowler’ worn by the working man and the ‘top’ sported by the gentleman of leisure.

In the 20th century, the bowler hat became an internationally recognized symbol of ‘Britishness’, claiming its place in popular culture as the headwear of choice for John Steed in swinging 1960’s TV show ‘The Avengers’

Jeeves is a pendant light combining a genuine handmade wool felt bowler hat and an energy saving G9 bulb, reinforced by anodized aluminium lining in a gold finish.
Wooster is a pendant light combining a genuine handmade wool top hat and an energy saving G9 bulb, reinforced by anodized aluminium lining in a gold finish.
